It was an early birthday present for Zach White.

The Brockville Tikis forward was named the CCM Hockey Rookie of the Month in the CCHL2 for December. White, who turned 18 recently, scored two goals and added seven assists last month. He scored his first game-winner of the year in Embrun on Dec. 18 and his first goal with the Jr. A Braves on Dec. 1.

White had 10 goals and 26 assists on the season before the Tikis home game against Westport on Wednesday night.

The other CCM Hockey December award recipients in the CCHL2 were Adam Church (Player of the Month) and Cameron Scott (Goalie of the Month), both of whom play for the Arnprior Packers.

The Tikis are in fifth place in the eight-team Richardson Division.

Blake Kettyle of the division-leading Westport Rideaus was named CCM Hockey’s second star of week 16. Kettyle had a five-point game against Athens on Saturday night. The 20-year-old centre has a significant lead in the CCHL2’s scoring race; as of Wednesday afternoon, Kettyle had 27 goals and 35 assists and was averaging more than 2.1 points per game.

Rideaus teammate Sean James, who is 17, was tied for third in CCHL scoring with 41 points.

White was tied for ninth in league scoring before the Westport game.
