Tikis drop opener of home-and-home with Rideaus – Recorder & Times

Brockville and Westport will be back at it on Wednesday night.

The Tikis opened a CCHL2 pre-season home-and-home with the Rideaus in Westport on Tuesday night. Brockville took a 3-2 lead midway through the second period on a goal by J.S. Marabella. Kyle Gionet and Gianlui Amato had already scored for the Tikis. Blake Kettyle tied the game 19 seconds later and Sean James made it 4-3 for Westport at 15:26 of the middle frame.

Brad Arnott scored for Brockville midway through the third to make it 4-4. Westport got the game-winner from Tye Carswell a minute-and-a-later. Kettyle’s second of the game was an empty-netter with 1:11 left in regulation, and James’ second goal of the night was also an empty-netter just before time expired to make the final 7-4.

Shots were 42-41 in favour of the Rideaus. Kaleb Griffin recorded the win in net for Westport; Nicolas Cicerelli was in goal for Brockville.

Parker Riley chipped in with two assists for the Tikis.

The teams will complete the home-and-home at the Brockville Memorial Centre on Wednesday night at 7:45. The Tikis will also open the CCHL2 regular season at home against Westport next Wednesday, Sept. 18.
